Stop Campus Hazing Act
The Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA) amends the Higher Education Act of 1965 to require colleges and universities to disclose hazing incidents in their annual security reports. It mandates institutions to define hazing, compile statistics on reported cases, and establish transparent policies for reporting and prevention.
Schools must create a Campus Hazing Transparency Report listing organizations found responsible for hazing and detailing violations, sanctions, and key investigation dates. The Act also requires institutions to implement research-based prevention programs and ensure compliance with local, State, and Tribal laws, enhancing student safety and accountability.

Campus Hazing Policies

The student code of conduct establishes the college definition of hazing and the adjudication process for hazing violations. It also includes policies surrounding the ongoing prevention and awareness programs designed to reduce hazing incidents on campus.

Campus Hazing Transparency Report
A key requirement of the Stop Campus Hazing Act, the Campus Hazing Transparency Report is designed to enhance public awareness of hazing incidents in higher education and help create a system of accountability. It mandates that colleges and universities participating in federal financial aid programs collect and publicly disclose information about student organizations that are officially established or recognized by Ridgewater College and found responsible for hazing violations.

In addition to the Hazing Transparency Report, Ridgewater College includes all Hazing statistics within the Annual Campus Crime and Security Report). These statistics include all hazing incidents within Ridgewater College’s Clery geography, regardless of whether they were committed by an officially established or recognized student organization group.
Reporting a Violation
Ridgewater College encourages anyone (students, faculty, staff, family members, campus guests) to report a hazing concern if they believe it has occurred or have reasonable cause to believe it will happen.
You can complete the form below or feel free to contact student services to visit with a counselor or your academic advisor if you need support or would like to talk it through prior to reporting.
Student Code of Conduct Violation Reporting Form
Please describe the hazing behavior, individuals and/or organizations involved, when/where the hazing occurred, and whether the hazing is ongoing. In addition to this information, please provide any videos, photographs, text messages, emails, or other evidence at the bottom of the reporting page.
After submitting the report, you may receive a response from Ridgewater College staff during normal business hours to ask clarifying questions and acknowledge receipt of your report, as needed. All reports are taken seriously, and a case will be created and followed by the appropriate process to investigate the hazing incident.
