PSEO – Post-Secondary Enrollment Options

The Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program was implemented by the Minnesota Legislature to give students an opportunity to enhance or enrich the education that they are receiving at their local high school, alternative area learning center, charter school or home school.
PSEO at Ridgewater College
Ridgewater offers two PSEO opportunities for high school students.
- Traditional PSEO
Eligible high school students may take college courses on campus or online – without paying tuition. Doing so allows them to earn high school and college credits simultaneously. Students have the flexibility to take all, or just a few, courses through the college.
- College in the Schools
Partnering with area high schools, Ridgewater offers some college courses to qualified high school students within their high school setting during regular school hours. All concurrent enrollment courses are taught by qualified high school instructors who partner with faculty from Ridgewater. Students who successfully complete the course receive high school and college credits.
The PSEO Advantage
- Jumpstart your college degree
- Save money on your education
- Enhance your earning power by getting your college degree sooner
- Challenge yourself with college-level curriculum
Who Can Apply
PSEO accepts applications from qualified high school seniors, juniors, sophomores, and home school students. View admission criteria for a detailed look at PSEO eligibility requirements.
What’s Included
There is no charge to PSEO students for tuition, books or fees for items that are required to participate in a course; however, students may incur fees for equipment that becomes their property when the course or program is completed or for textbooks that are not returned to the postsecondary institution according to their policies.
Next Steps
Students who are interested in PSEO should review admissions criteria requirements, read through the frequently asked questions, meet the notification and application deadlines, and discuss options with parents/guardians and high school counselors.
