Citation Guides
Citations are important in academic writing. They not only show your reader that you’ve done proper research, but they help you be a responsible scholar by giving credit to others and acknowledging their ideas. Additionally, citations help to avoid plagiarism by quoting words and ideas used by other authors. Common citation styles include Modern Language Association (MLA), American Psychological Association (APA) and American Sociological Association (ASA). Be sure to ask your instructor which style you should be using, as this can vary based on the discipline or class.
