Ridgewater Announces New Wrestling Head Coach
July 18, 2025

WILLMAR and HUTCHINSON, MN –Ridgewater College is excited to announce that Coach Logan Peterson will take over as the primary head coach for the Warriors for the upcoming academic year and season.
Coach Peterson has served as the co-head coach with Coach Travis Deegan for the last three seasons. Deegan recently resigned to take an out-of-state position.
Peterson originally came to Ridgewater with wrestling experience from South Dakota State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and history. He was the team captain and served as a camp counselor for several years at the Jackrabbit Wrestling Camp. He then went on to earn his Master of Arts in Global Interactions-International Relations from Cleveland State University in Ohio and was a volunteer coach for their wrestling program.
Two former Warrior wrestlers will assist Coach Peterson. Wil Yesseri (an All-American) and Jacob Backlund (a two-time national qualifier) will serve as assistant coaches. Peterson shared that, together, one of their goals is “to develop skills and habits in the team’s young men that will help make them be successful in their lives and make them positive influences in their communities.”
“We are grateful that Logan is willing to step up to lead the program as head coach, and we are excited to watch him continue to build on past successes,” said Heidi Olson, Ridgewater College dean of students.
