Public invited to free health fairs, healthcare job fairs
March 15, 2023
Health, wellness and healthcare careers are the primary targets of the Annual Ridgewater College Community Health Fairs set for Tuesday, March 21 in Hutchinson and Thursday, March 23 in Willmar. Community members are invited to join students and staff in exploring 35-45 healthcare exhibits, ranging from physical to mental health, along with potential healthcare jobs.
“The Health Fair offers a fun and free environment to learn about the health resources in our communities,” said Heather Marcus, Ridgewater Hutchinson campus event coordinator. “Whether you’re a college student who’s new to the area or a community member who’s been local for 40 years, you can learn more about local services that can help improve your health in 2023 while also getting freebies and entering to win prizes!”
The events run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on each campus and offer hands-on explorations, interactive learning, and free samples from vendors. Door prizes are drawn every half hour with a grand prize drawing at 12:30 p.m. (need not be present to win). Exhibits include free chiropractic spinal screenings, mental health resources, pregnancy information and assistance, natural food options, fitness clubs, weight loss programs, safe driving information, nutritional supplements, and alternative therapies.
Various healthcare providers will be available to connect with community members as well as current and soon-to-graduate Ridgewater nursing students who are exploring healthcare careers. Participating vendors will be hiring for healthcare positions in hospitals, senior care facilities, the Army, the State of Minnesota, community organizations, and other area healthcare services.
“We will always need eager individuals to fill healthcare positions,” said Angela Haas, Ridgewater Willmar Campus event coordinator. “The Health Fair provides a great opportunity to network and explore various careers in this field.”
The March 21 Hutchinson event takes place in the Commons (cafeteria area); the March 23 Willmar event will be in the Dining Area (upper level of the Student Center).
