This course will be a hands-on course. Physical participation will be required. In this course, you will learn:
- to identify threats (threat pattern recognition)
- the stages of reaction time
- proper punching and kicking
- escapes from the most common holds, including:
- wrist grabs (one & two hand)
- arm grabs
- choke holds
- bear hugs (front & back)
- headlocks
This is not a martial arts class. The techniques taught are based on medical, tactical, and legal components. They are simple to learn, simplistic to perform, easy to remember, and medically proven effective.
About the Instructor:
Mark Brendemuehl is a 1st degree black belt in Jujitsu (Japanese) and Tae Kwon Do. He began teaching for public safety–including EMS, Corrections, and Law Enforcement–in 1997 in courses such as Defensive Tactics, Ground Fighting, Edged Weapons, Aerosol Chemical Agents, Use of Force Continuum, TASER, Dynamic Entry, Baton, and the FN303 Less Lethal Launcher. Mark is also a permit to carry instructor.
