Ridgewater Spring Theatre to Perform “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”
April 11, 2023
The Ridgewater College Theatre will present C. S. Lewis’ popular fantasy, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” at the Willmar campus stage, running April 20-22 and April 27-29 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees at 2:00 p.m. on April 22 and 29.
From the well-known “The Chronicles of Narnia,” this story tells the tale of four siblings who travel to the fantasy land of Narnia to escape World War II bombing and to learn their destinies through the guidance of a mystical lion. While playing a game of hide-and-seek, they discover a time-traveling wardrobe that opens a door to wolves, talking animals, an evil witch, and a magnificent lion.
“It’s always fun, and usually a little challenging, bringing a show to life, and this one has been no different,” said Matt Hegdahl, Ridgewater College Theatre Director. “It’s been fun watching the actors figure out their parts, and who wouldn’t enjoy working with a lion, a couple of helpful beavers, a witch and all the other creatures of Narnia?”
Leading the cast of about 20 will be students Averi Linn (Spicer) as Susan, Gavin Johnson (New London) as Peter, Corin Gauer (Kandiyohi) as the White Witch, and Chris Ness (New London) as Aslan, along with community members Abby Wallace as Lucy and Emma Wallace as Edmund.
This production is appropriate for all ages.
“Anyone who likes the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ books will enjoy the play,” Hegdahl said.
General admission tickets are $10 and will be available at the Ridgewater Bookstore in Willmar or Hutchinson (not online) or at the door on the day of the performance. Cash only. Admission for Ridgewater students and employees is free.
Performances are on the Willmar campus in the Fine Arts Building theater. Doors open 30 minutes before curtains open.
