Peace Officer
Peace officers work in communities to protect people by maintaining peace, order, and public safety. They enforce local, state and federal laws, but also build trust and cooperation through community engagement. Some graduates specialize in corrections, probation or investigations.
Students learn skills in:
- Introduction to criminal justice, policing, and criminal investigation
- Minnesota traffic and criminal code, criminal procedures, probation, and crime prevention strategies
- Community engagement, corrections, police ethics, and report writing
- Social behavior, social problems, communication, sociology, and psychology
- 67 credit degree
- Online courses
- In-person skills training
- Start in fall or spring
