Ridgewater College – Photography Assistant
Ridgewater College is seeking a motivated and creative Photography Assistant to join our Photography Department. This work-study position offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a professional photography and video production environment. The Photography Assistant will support the department by organizing equipment, charging batteries, setting up for photo shoots, assisting with department tours, producing content for social media, and helping in the creation of video content curriculum.
Primary Job Duties:
- Organize Equipment:
- Maintain an inventory of photography and video equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is in working order and properly stored.
- Set Up for Photo Shoots:
- Assist in the setup and tear-down of photography sessions.
- Help prepare studios, backdrops, and lighting setups.
- Department Tours:
- Assist with tours for prospective students and visitors.
- Provide information about the photography program and facilities.
- Produce Content for Social Media:
- Create engaging photo and video content for the department’s social media platforms.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the photography program.
- Familiarize with Camera and Lighting Equipment:
- Learn to operate various cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
- Assist in Creating Video Content Curriculum:
- Support the instructor in developing educational video content.
- Help with audio and video production and editing using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Editing:
- Edit photos and videos to meet project requirements.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite to enhance and finalize content.
Qualifications:
- Current student at Ridgewater College in good academic standing.
- Knowledge and experience with photography and video equipment and techniques.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity and a passion for photography and video production.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a photography or video production role.
- Familiarity with social media content creation and management.
Job Specifications:
- Fall and spring semesters
- Daytime hours – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday – 9 am – 2 pm
- Average 15 hours/week
