Careers
Looking for a career path? Check out Machine Tool Careers! Students who graduate with a degree from Ridgewater College are prepared to enter into a machine tool career such as a CNC precision manufacturing technician or Machining Technician.
CNC precision manufacturing technicians develop inspection plans for machines and reports on the compliance of the parts to design, as well as determine common programming codes and program format. Our students receive an emphasis on Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and learning tooling and programming practices used in the industry.
Machining technicians are machine operators who run computer-controlled machines. These machines cut, shape, drill, or otherwise modify metal or plastic parts. The computer program tells the machine with the tool to use and how to use them. The operator sets up, tends, and maintains the machine. Once the operator enters in the programs the operator will select, measure, install and secure the tools and attachments the machines use. Operators read blueprints and use their knowledge of the job to select proper tools.
