All legal assistant core and legal tech electives are taught using interactive online delivery methods. Classes are delivered real-time and recorded for student convenience.
The Legal Assistant program has three options: diploma, Associate of Applied Science degree and certificate. The Legal Assistant programs are designed to provide you with the specialized skills and background in legal terminology, legal document preparation, and office procedures you will need to gain career-related employment.
Legal students receive education through classroom lectures, workshops, seminars, speakers, field trips, and laboratory experiences. Additionally, classes may be available in fully- or partially-online environments.
The AAS degree program is helpful if your future plans include pursuing a four-year degree in a legal-related major. Many of the general education credits may transfer toward that degree. You will also have a base of knowledge that will assist you in further education and/or in better work opportunities to support you while you advance.
The certificate option is designed for the student who has prior administrative support education and/or experience and who wishes to gain the necessary knowledge and skills for employment in a legal office setting. Entrance into the certificate program assumes that the student has strong keyboarding, word processing, and oral and written communication skills. It requires approval of the program advisor prior to enrollment. The certificate option is available in a blended online/on-campus format.
