PSEO / Concurrent Enrollment Admission Criteria
Liberal Arts/General Education Student Application Criteria
The PSEO program allows high school students to take college courses at either of our Ridgewater College campuses or on-line. To be eligible to take PSEO courses, high school juniors must be in the upper one-third of their class or earn a score or have a 3.0 GPA. Seniors must be in the upper half of their class or have a 2.5 GPA. Course placement will be determined by the New Student Assessment Testing. Colleges are not permitted to register students for remedial, developmental or other courses not considered to be college level under PSEO.
Technical Student Application Criteria
Students who are in the 11th or 12th grade who are applying for Technical coursework will be required to demonstrate that they have the ability to successfully complete college coursework at a C level or higher. The following criteria will be reviewed before an admission decision is determined - coursework taken in high school, GPA, class rank and the New Student Assessment Testing. Students applying for technical coursework, who meet admission requirements will be accepted after October 1st for Spring Semester and February 1st for Fall Semester on a space available basis. Students who seek a change of program from technical to transfer, or the reverse, must meet the stated criteria at the time the request is made.
Students who are in the 10th grade and enrolled in a district, who have attained a passing reading score on the 8th grade Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment in reading, and meet any other course prerequisites or course enrollment standards established by the College, including but not limited to assessment test scores, program admission, or other requirements, may enroll in one (1) career or technical education course at Ridgewater College. If the student received a grade of C or better in the course, the student shall be allowed to take additional career or technical education courses in subsequent terms.
Current high school students should visit with the high school counselor or principal to determine eligibility for the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program. Home schooled students should notify their resident school district office of their intent to participate in the PSEO program. 10th grade students must be enrolled in a school district to be eligible for PSEO.
